Building a Website With AI Yourself vs Hiring a Studio: What Actually Differs

Building a Website With AI Yourself vs Hiring a Studio: What Actually Differs

Let us be straight first: you really can prompt an AI into a website today, in minutes, and the result often looks better than plenty of sites did five years ago. Anyone claiming otherwise has not tried it.

So the real question is not whether AI can build a website. It is whether that website works for the business.

When doing it yourself is the right answer

We will not pretend everyone needs to hire. If this is your situation, do it yourself:

  • You need a single landing page to test an idea before investing properly
  • It is a personal project, a hobby, or a portfolio
  • Budget is genuinely tight and the site is not yet a revenue channel
  • You enjoy building it and have time to maintain it

If any of those fit, start now. A site you built beats no site.

What a general AI still cannot do for you

1. Accountability when something breaks

The site goes down at 3am. Payments fail on promotion day. Customer data leaks. The AI that generated your site is not responsible for any of it. A business with revenue tied to its website needs someone accountable with a name and a phone number.

2. A knowledge base the AI can actually answer from (RAG)

The chatbot bundled with most AI builders answers from general knowledge, not your business data — so it states wrong prices and invented conditions with total confidence. Vectorizing your content into a knowledge base so the AI answers from real data is engineering, not a toggle.

3. Being found by AI, not just seen by people

Complete Schema/JSON-LD, an llms.txt, answer-shaped content architecture — this AEO/GEO work is what gets ChatGPT to cite your business. General builders are not designed for it.

4. Integrating with the systems the business actually runs on

LINE OA, Thai payment rails, CRM, inventory, accounting — integrations are where most projects fail, and they require understanding both the technology and the business process.

5. Operating the site through AI via MCP

A site exposing an MCP server, so an AI agent can update the knowledge base, read customer data, and manage content safely within granted permissions, is not something off-the-shelf builders offer.

6. Ownership

Sites built on closed platforms often cannot be moved. The customer data and content you accumulate over years stay there.

Where we stand

We are not competing with AI — we use it every day. What we sell is not "the ability to produce web pages", because that has fallen close to free.

What we sell is a website that works for the business: a knowledge base the AI answers correctly from, discoverability by AI engines, integration with the systems you already run, and someone accountable when something breaks.
